Lots of stuff going on in vibeland. Most of it I can’t talk about right now, but I’ll let you in on the secrets when the time is right ;)

One crazy thing coming up is MY HIGH SCHOOL REUNION!!!

Seriously? did I REALLY graduate from high school TEN YEARS AGO?!!?!?

goghelpmeI’mgettingold ;)

More updates on boys naad jobs and life and stuff later….MEANWHILE…

On the knitty side of things, I’m making progress on that damned baby blanket I’ve been mentioning here and there for over a year! WOO! Maybe I’ll actually FINISH IT! I think there might be a few people in my family who will likely pass out from shock if that actually happens!!! no joke! I’m also nearly done with my version of the SnB Chinese Charm bag… although, I might have totally messed that up by binding off too early. Let’s see if the magic of blocking works on some Noro Silk Garden (I’ve never blocked anything before).

In case you’re wondering, I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE ZOO-ALONG!!! Today I bought some embroidery floss and fiber-fil for my Bunny!!! (Did I mention I’m making the rabbit with sweater from the Debbie Bliss book? cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!) The Bunny itself is gonna be knit from this yuuuummmmmy DK alpaca…Blue Sky Alpaca? Is that right? I can’t remember all of a sudden…regardless, it’s AWESOME! Maybe not so suitable for the 1 yr old I bought it for though, so I might have to KEEP the bunny. mwuhaHAHAHAHAHHA!

Yesterday I made a LEG!!! It took like NO TIME AT ALL TO MAKE! Now I’m all excited and can’t wait to make the rest of it! I LOVE INSTANT GRATIFICATION!!!

righto. that’s it. catch ya lata I guess.

I have just come to a CRAZY revelation and I am H O R R I F I E D!

KNITTERS! ANY OF YOU! HELP ME!
(there must be at least ONE of you reading this, at LEAST ONE)!

I think I’ve been knitting TOTALLY WRONG! Like, I think I’ve been knitting in PERMA-TWISTED-STOCKINETTE!

(ok, all non-knitters can STOP HERE. This is going to be nerdy and B O R I N G. seriously. go!)

I was looking over message boards for ROGUE ’cause I DESPERATELY wanna make this sweater (but I HAVE to finish up other projects so I have to satisfy my craving by READING about Rogue) and I kept reading about twisted stockinette and I TOTALLY didn’t get what it was! “Knit into the back of the loop”… WHA??? How do you do THAT?

Wanna know why I didn’t get it? CAUSE THAT WAS WHAT I WAS DOING ALREADY!!! See THIS site!?!!? See how the needle goes through the FRONT of the loop for the knit stitch? Yeah, I DON’T DO THAT!!!! I ALWAYS knit into the BACK of the loop!!!

Now the thing is, I PURL correctly. so is THAT why my knitting comes out all slanty in the round, but NOT when I knit straight? What are the problems I will create for myself by knitting twisted? And how the hell do you PURL twisted? I don’t get it at ALL from the description on htat page!!

3 years of knitting and ALL WRONG!!!

W R O N G !!!

{{sigh}}

help.

Is there a 12-step for this?

It’s about this time that maybe i should admit that I am a knitter.

MY NAME IS LARA AND I AM A KNITTER!

I’ve been knitting for about 3 and a half years now, but it’s only been since this Christmas that I REALLY got into it. I got two books on knitting that TOTALLY made me obsessed. And I DO mean O B S E S S E D.

I think the main thing that converted me from the occasional knitter into the obsessive girl that literally DREAMS about her LYS (that’s local yarn store for you non-knitters) was the discovery that MICHAEL’S IS NOT THE ONLY PLACE YOU CAN BUY YARN!

In FACT, the yarn you buy at Michael’s is mostly, PLASTICKY, CRAPPY, ACRYLIC YARN. There is OTHER yarn. GOOD yarn made of things like WOOL and ALPACA and ANGORA and COTTON and CAASSSSHHHMEEERREEE. AND AND AND! THERE ARE ENTIRE STORES DEVOTED TO THIS!!! YARN! NEEDLES! KNITTING! WOOOO!

Ok, by now, the other knitters reading this are TOTALLY laughing at me, but I’m serious!! This was a REVELATION to me! Now I’m HOOKED!!! I have a crack habit and it’s NOT CHEAP! {{sigh}}

Now, while I’m proud of my crafty side, let me say as a DJ at a hip, mainstream radiostation, I get a LOT of wierdo looks from my non-crafty DJ co-workers when I bring my travel projects to meetings (yes, yes, I do that…) I get a lot of, “What’s that? You live alone? And you have a CAT? AND YOU KNIT?!!? HEH!” But F#@K it! They’re just jealous. They just want my hand-made goodies!

Anyway, now that I’m officially declared as a blogger who knits, it’s time for me to join my first knit-along!!!! So, I present to you…the INCREDIBLE ZOO-ALONG hosted by the knitlette and kitten avec whip! YAAAY!!! I am going to make the ‘small rabbit with sweater’ from this book by Debbie Bliss!!

Who wants to knit along?
