Ahhh… love SWEET love… {{puke}}

Hi, my name is Lara, and I am a Dumpee.

I’ve been single 4 days.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? I KNOW YOU SAW IT COMING!!! If I say it’s for good this time, would you believe me? Yeah, if I were you, I wouldn’t either, but I SWEAR IT. Really. REALLY

For those of you feeling out-of-the-loop, YES, IT’S THE SAME GUY

I’m doing ok. The first two days were *awful*, but I guess all these beatings I’ve taken from the same relationship have numbed me a little. It only gets to me when the world stops and gets quiet for a second. Like maybe now, when all I can hear is the clicking of my keyboard and the voice in my head, reminding me how the one thing I treasured most is gone. I’ll be ok though.

BUT HEY! ENOUGH OF THAT! I’ve got other things to show you!!!!

MEXICO! This is me and my cousin parasailing. HOW COOL IS THAT!?!

This is me and two of my favorite people: my baby niece and my big brother. We did a lot of chillin’ in da pool…(please don’t remind me that I’m sitting in a baby pool, I’ve tried to block that and the contents of it’s water out)

This was the amazing sunset view from one of our suite balconies (there were 23 of us on this trip, so we had three suites!)

Now of COURSE, it seems a shame to go to a tropical beach in Mexico and not get some play! However, aside from getting hit on by our Mexican waiter while I was wearing my “My boyfriend is out of town” T-shirt, the only action I managed to get was from this guy:

I pretty much french kissed this iguana. SERIOUSLY. I put my lips up to his cause I thought it would be a cute photo-op, but then the little shit slipped me the tongue!

This is the view from the plane on my way home :( doesn’t it just look like the END OF THE WORLD?!!?

There was soooo much to this trip, it would take me FOREVER to fill you in, so those are some fun highlights. Actually, it’s not even the tip of the iceberg on the highlights, but most of the pics I have are *quite* incriminating, so to protect the {{cough}} *innocent* {{cough}}, I can’t show them to you.

What I CAN show you though, is KNITTING! (thought I haven’t been doing any, huh?)

Here’s the ‘Umbilical Cord Hat’ from SnB (modeled by the lovely Emily) that I made for a friend’s baby that was born about 2 weeks ago. I have to mail it, but I wanna wash it first to make it a little softer (and, of course, to remove all evidence of ‘cat’). I made it from Lion Brand Jiffy that I had in my stash and it came out a bit STIFF.

And here is the beginnings of a Very Harlot Poncho! Unkowingly, I think I picked out the SAME EXACT color Stephanie used! Only I’m going to add black to the bottom, partially because I think it will look cool and partially because they didn’t have enough of the other color ;) hee.

OH OH OH! and before I forget:

Look at the lovely gift I got from my secret pal!! She sent me 2!! skeins of Kureyon to make a Sophie Bag (’cause she knew I wanted to try felting), a fun butterfly bookmark, and a lovely little note :) THANKS SECRET PAL!! :) :) :) (I already had the cat)

I guess that’s all for now.

Thank you Holly and Sarah for the sweet words. They were much appreciated. :)

…And some days it’s not.

I must do a pretty good job of convincing myself that things are better than they are. My grandmother always told me I’d make a good lawyer because I could argue anything. Rationalize anything.

It amazes me how I always get hit, as if by a truck, without ever seeing the how or why, and I’m going to guess it’s not because there are no signs, but because I refuse to see them.

The most appealing thing to me right now is to find a really dark place and disappear inside for however long it takes for me not to want to hide there anymore.

Sounds melodramatic, huh? Yeah. Well, needless to say (to those of you who know me), I no longer have a current need to move to California.

Some days it’s good to be me…

Today I got to do something that I never get to do as a radio DJ — I got to *interview* a celebrity!! Seriously! They never let me do this! I think it has more to do with my particular time slot of 10-2am than me, but still! Working the late-night shift, I get shafted on all the PERKS of being a DJ — free concert tix, backstage passes, interviews, parties, movie premieres…sure, I get a free CD here and there, but COME. ON.

Anyway, today, since I was fillin’ in and doing the 3-6pm afternoon-drive slot, I got to do an actual interview with a flesh-and-blood, hip-hop celebrity! WOO!

Now, before you run off and get all excited and what not, let me warn you that if you don’t listen to my station, or watch MTV or BET, then you’re going to have NO IDEA of who I’m talking about. NONE. That said, I’mma tell you who it was…

{{drumroll please}}

No idea who he is, huh? That’s what I thought. To fill you in, he’s a producer who’s worked with TONS of artists like Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Common, Jay-Z, Maroon 5, Britney Spears, Twista and more who is just now FINALLY getting out on the mic!

His album, College Dropout, features singles like “Through the Wire”, “All Falls Down” (nominated for 4 MTV VMAs), and “Jesus Walks”. “Through the Wire” is trippy because he recorded it back in 2002, after a near-fatal car accident where parts of his face were shattered and he had to have his jaw wired shut. The video even documents the process!

Now, you might be asking, “Why is she giving us a run-down of this guy’s life history and resume?” {{shrug}} Yeah, I don’t know. I jsut thought it might be fun to give you a glimpse of some of the cool stuff I get to do now and then. And I thought I’d plug an artist who genuinely and whole-heartedly seems to believe in what he does, who makes his music from his heart. This guy was so down-to-earth and cool, and all he wanted was for us to hear his stuff and be real about it. It’s nice to know that there are artists in the mainstream music industry that are still like that. :)

He stopped by the studio because tonight he’s going to be opening up for Usher at the MCI Center. Should be a good show (not that I’m going, see above). He also showed us the semi-raw footage of the video from his next single, “Workout Video”. It was a RIOT! AND, it features an appearance by everyone’s FAVORITE shrinking gold-digger, ANNA NICOLE! heh. It was neat though, to see it so early on in the process, while there is still so much work to be done on it. Makes me feel all ‘insider’!

Me and Kanye West!

Now, if we can just get Colin Farrell to stop by…

PS – Two posts in two days! Not baaad!

HI! I’m BACK!!!

There is SOO MUCH to update you all about! MEXICO! SECRET PALS! KNITTY NIGHT!

Alas, I am at work, and my camera and all my pretty pictures are at home, so there will be no sharing today. :(

However, I feel the *need* to update, otherwise someone may accuse me of having an infrequently updated blog which OF COURSE is sooo not truuue! {heh}

Knitty night at the Mayorga Coffee Factory was fun as usual. I worked on my second R2 Tasty Sleeve. I was totally inspired to pick it back up thanks to THIS blog. Damn that girl just KNITS UP A STORM and she knits the *cutest* stuff!! I keep having to hold myself back from making a Carla just like hers!

The only thing about Knitting Meetup is that sometimes I feel like I’m back in Jr. High. I get all wierd and insecure and wonder if I’m interesting enough or smart enough or funny enough — you know, all *concerned* if my new knitty friends *like* me. It’s totally lame, and I’m way too old for that kind of insecurity, but I could have *sworn* I got a few “what’s up with *her*” funny looks last night. Truth is, I guess not everyone’s going to like you ANYWAY, so why bother worrying about it, right?

We do that with our blogs though too, right? YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! You write something, and then in the back of your mind you’re thinking, “You think anyone will read it? Is it compelling? Is it funny? Do you think they like my knitting? do I need to finish things faster to keep it interesting? Am I posting often enough?”

Problem with THAT is, before you know it, you might start knitting and posting for the people *reading* your blog instead of for the person *writing* it.

deep, eh? {heh}

OK, A N Y W A Y, I think it’s time for me to actually DO some work at work, so I’ll be back lata HOPEFULLY with some fun pics to share :)
